I have a confession to make. I kind of – well, no, I REALLY – hate “The Secret.”
A lot. With the fiery passion of a thousand suns, even. That much.
Why? Because it’s only a teeny, tiny part of the story: the part that our egos love to hear. The part that tells us anything we want is available just for the asking. Shiny new car? You can have it! Big fancy house? Check! A million dollars? Put it on that Vision Board and watch the money roll in!
But here’s the crucial thing that gets lost. God (or the Universe, whatevs,) doesn’t care about your physical comfort. It doesn’t really care if you have a big or small house, a shiny or dented car, or even a car at all. It REALLY doesn’t care about the dollar bills in your possession. It’s happy for you to have those things . . . but it’s just as happy for you not to.
“Well, wait a minute, HOLD THE PHONE, then what DOES it care about?” . . . I hear you yelling.
Your growth. Spiritual, emotional, mental. God cares about your growth, full stop. And when we talk about “co-creation,” guess who the “co” in that word is? Yep.
Co-creation isn’t about putting your order in to the Universe like it’s a drive-up window, and I don’t care how many people tell you it is. Co-creation is about ALIGNING yourself with something bigger. (In other words, you align to IT, it doesn’t align to YOU.)
(Bear with me. I already know you’re yelling about that big house you wanted. You can have it. Keep reading.)
When you align to the Universal Presence (whatever you want to call it) – when you commit to growing in faith, forgiveness, joy, peace, wholeness, all those things – then you can have the desires of your ego met, TOO. Because at that point, you’re not prioritizing the ego; you are prioritizing growth (which remember, is the only thing God cares about), and the “stuff” is just added on as a bonus.
Co-creation also means that if you’re chasing something that won’t either cause or result in growth . . . you’re probably not gonna get it. Sometimes God says no.
So if you want something . . . if you’re all about this manifesting stuff . . . then by all means, get clear on what you want. Get clear on that house, the car, the million bucks. And then ask yourself how you will have to GROW to accomplish that. Who will you have to be? Who will you have to forgive? What thought patterns and fears will you need to let go of? How much more faith will you need to have?
And then get to work. Because without that growth, you can kiss the material stuff goodbye.
